3in6: The Challenge Begins!

For the challenge guidelines, see this post.

Today, January 3, is officially the third day of 3in6.  I will be wearing jumbo twists every two weeks this month.  My regimen will consist of biweekly washes and deep conditioning.

Ladies, how do you plan to wear your hair for the start of the challenge?

  1. To begin, I took measurement so I can see my growth...
    Front - 9
    Side - 9
    Back - 7.5
I will be wearing box braids for the month. My regimen will be...
    prepoo with briads overnight
wash and conditions 2x a month

  2. I will be wearing micro twists for the first half of the month. I may play around with flat twisting the front of my hair for the second half of the month, I haven’t decided yet. I will be washing, deep conditioning, and re-twisting my hair every two weeks.

  3. Nessa: taking measurements is a good idea.

I will be wearing medium sized twists that I will redo (one by one) as the roots get puffy. I will prepoo, wash and rinse with ACV every 3-4 days and moisturize as needed.

  4. Hey Loo! My hair is in med-large twists (20-25 of them) for the first two weeks. I'll be keeping my hair pinned up or covered with headwraps or wigs pretty much all the time, because of another challenge I'm doing. I'm thinking I'll undo the twists this weekend so I have more volume for next week's updo, even if it's just a bun.

  5. I am already on my personal challenge, whereby I wash and DC my hair biweekly. I usually wear 8 jumbo flat twists for two weeks at a time.

  6. I will be wearing my twists every two weeks, and also spraying with water (and applying coconut oil) daily. I know that my style won't be preserved as well, but my hair needs the moisture, and when I did the challenge without water last year, it began to break off. I'm already on my second week of twists since I started the challenge at the end of November after a hair cut gone awry. It's already helping though, because I've gotten an inch back! Yippee!

  7. I said I was going to start with mini twists and I TRIED to do so. But my hair is just so darn thick that I gave up 2 hours in. Anyway, I'm just doing medium-sized twists for two weeks and moisturizing and sealing on a daily basis.

  12. I'll probably be alternating my med-sized twists and mini twists monthly. I'm liking the 33 twists I have right now.

regimen: Wash with Jane Carter (or cleanse with ACV) and DC (with Redken or My Honey Child) weekly in twists, moisturize daily with Vatika oil, shea moisutre deep treatment mask, and raw shea butter. May be doing a henna/indigo treatment soon next week.

  13. I'm wearing a flat twist up do. I'm really happy with this style as I was able to achieve it without the use of any bobby pins. I'm going into this challenge so pumped. I can't wait to see how much more healthy and full my hair is at the end of 6 months.
