Youtube: Genetically Modified Food ...

In this videoDearNaptural85 discusses "eating well and organic living".  As part of her discussion, she shares her thoughts on a book entitled "The Unhealthy Truth".  Here's a short description of the author's journey:

"O'Brien turns to accredited research conducted in Europe that confirms the toxicity of America’s food supply, and traces the relationship between Big Food and Big Money that has ensured that the United States is one of the only developed countries in the world to allow hidden toxins in our food--toxins that can be blamed for the alarming recent increases in allergies, ADHD, cancer, and asthma among our children. Featuring recipes and an action plan for weaning your family off dangerous chemicals one step at a time, The Unhealthy Truth is a must-read for every parent--and for every concerned citizen--in America today."

Glad you posted this. One of the worst violators of creations of Frankenfoods (GMOs) is Monsanto who modifies and patents genes of foods and seeds. They modify pants to be more resistant to their RoundUp Ready pesticide. There is little to no FDA testing on Frankenfoods..and no labeling so that a savvy consumer can avoid them (other than the ones on veggies). Many GMO seeds are suicide ones that produce barren plants that cause farmers to be dependent on Monsanto and go into debt. Some farmers have committed suicide because they've owed thousands to Monsanto.

And GMO plants constantly pollute non GMO plants with their seeds and toxins.

Vandana Shiva has started a movement to gather and keep native seeds (free from GMO). She's a heroine in my book.

I have not read this book you mentioned..but I plan too now.

@Chrissy M: You're welcome, and thanks for sharing! I remember reading an article about the suicide GMO seeds; it's such a sad reality. There needs to be more awareness about these issues.

The big problem is that the law states that these companies don't have to label foods that are GMO or treated with X-pesticides, or that are laced with hormones, because BigAg companies know that IF WE REALLY KNEW what was in our food we wouldn't buy certain prodcuts. The way food has been adulterated in such an unhealthy way is done on purpose, and they intend to keep us ignorant and unable to make good choices so that the BigAg companies can continue to profit. Monsanto is definitely one of the worst out there, but they're not alone.
